Why report on your impact?

Outcome and impact evaluation has many benefits for voluntary organisations. Through evaluation, you can make your work more effective, report to funders and attract further funding, improve your communications and motivate staff and volunteers.

There are two main stages of effective reporting:

  • Analysing your data
  • Reporting your findings

Analysing your data

Analysis is about making sense of the data you have collected. It’s often forgotten, but is an important first step to reporting effectively. There are different techniques for analysing quantitative and qualitative data.

Once you have analysed your data you can set out clear evaluation findings and recommendations. There are different reporting formats – choose the ones that communicate effectively with the people you want to use your evaluation findings.
