About us

About the site, how to keep in touch, get involved, and who we are.

NCVO Knowhow Nonprofit offers advice and support for voluntary organisations. Learn from your peers and from experts, and share your experiences with the community.

Whether you work in a large charity, are setting up your own social enterprise, or are helping out your local community group – if you want to get information, update your skills or talk to others in similar situations, you've come to the right place.

From expert advice and top tips, to bite-sized how-to guides and online training courses, we’ve got something for everyone. And with opportunities to contribute to how-to guides,  write a case study, or join a group of like-minded professionals, Knowhow really is the go-to place for good advice, shared.

About the site

Before becoming part of the NCVO family in 2011, Knowhow Nonprofit was developed by the Centre for Charity Effectiveness Trust Ltd (part of the Cass Centre for Charity Effectiveness (Cass CCE)) with a grant from The Big Lottery Fund under the BASIS programme.

Nowadays, Knowhow is loved and cared for by a team at NCVO (HelenLauren, Debbie, Philip, Greg and Jack). The site uses the Open Source Content Management System, Plone and is managed by our partners Text Matters.
