Who are Ecclesiastical and why are we working together?

Ecclesiastical has been insuring not for profit organisations for 125 years and insure thousands of UK charities, not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises of all shapes and sizes.

Ecclesiastical’s mission is ‘to advise and protect those who enrich the lives of others’, and they’re well known for their practical risk management advice to help charities operate safely.

Owned by a charity themselves, they give back all available profits to charity, so have a unique understanding and empathy with the sector. They’ve also been voted the best insurer for charities by charities and insurance brokers alike for five years running.

In order to extend their support to the sector, Ecclesiastical wanted to help provide advice on wider charity issues. After meeting with the KnowHow team, they felt that the best way to do this would be to get behind the KnowHow site and make sure we continue to deliver top-class learning material.

In addition to providing funding to help us deliver our work, Ecclesiastical are also working with us to develop new content in crucial areas, such as charity insurance and risk management, ready to answer any queries you have in our forum and will be contributing to our iKnowHow wiki. Ecclesiastical have produced a series of 60 second videos aimed at those who are responsible for arranging insurance for their charity.

The videos are clear, concise and straight to the point so all levels of experience can gain value from watching.

Advice to prevent slips and trips within your organisation

Slips and trips are the most common cause of injury at work. On average, they make up over a third of all major injuries and can also lead to other types of serious accidents, for example falls from height. Slips and trips are also the most reported injury to members of the public.

Risk advice for charities - online course

We've just launched an online risk assessment toolkit - developed with Ecclesiastical, which is closely focused on key risks charities face such as events, outings, employees and volunteers and much more.
